EMPOWERMENT AND LIVELIHOOD
1. Vocational Training Centers
We have set up 4 vocational training centers (VTC) at Gadepan, Palaitha, Simliya and Kundanpur villages. We are operating VTCs in partnership with District Adult Education Association (supported by Jan Shikshan Sansthan) to empower unemployed rural youths specially women. We train rural youths in livelihood oriented courses like ‘Tailoring & Stitching’, ‘Beautician’, ‘Basic Computers’ and ‘House wiring and electrical appliances’.

2. Self Help Groups (SHGs)
SHGs have been formed with the objective of micro-financing and inter-loaning. SHG members are regularly trained in accounts and record keeping, management of SHGs, and bank linkage processes. In addition, the members are also trained in various entrepreneurial activities. The total number of SHGs stands at 32, across 13 villages and this initiative shall be expanded in other villages also.
3. Supporting the Underprivileged
Central and state governments in India have many schemes for the benefit of the underprivileged section of the society, however the benefits don’t reach the target groups due to lack of information, education and limited resources. To fill this gap, Chambal initiated a programme to help people of nearby villages to avail government facilities like pension, insurance schemes, domestic gas connections, opening of bank accounts and construction of individual toilets.
