Education is our flagship CSR programme. Chambal believes that only education can transform the lives of children and youths. Education helps us in resolving many social issues around us. Chambal’s intervention is based on the concept of ‘Pre-School to Livelihood’; therefore, it has developed a long term sustainable model of education by adopting Government educational institutions - from balwadis (pre-school) to senior secondary schools and Industrial Training Institutes. This enables us to provide children a growth path, right from the time they enter school till the time they acquire skills and are ready for the job.
The Company is extending quality education to children from rural community by providing admission in Chambal Fertilisers DAV School being run at Gadepan campus. Nearly 60% students in this school are from surrounding rural community. Chambal has initiated a comprehensive educational programme in 39 government schools of 27 villages near its plants in Kota and Baran districts of Rajasthan. The objective of this program is to provide quality education and motivate the dropouts to go back to school. The target beneficiaries of this programme are around 5000 children (including balwadi). Pratham - an NGO engaged to improve learning level of children from nursery to 8th standard has further bridged the gap significantly at all levels. In addition, we have engaged Kumar Classes – a coaching institute from Kota for remedial education for students of secondary and senior secondary classes.
We have expanded our school readiness Balwadi Education Programme at Government run anganwadi centers. We run 26 such centers enrolling 610 children across 25 villages in collaboration with Pratham. Nandghar Yojna - a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative by Government of India to transform anganwadi centers into a modern facility to house children was recently launched at all these centers. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Government of Rajasthan to implement this scheme. Our aim is to provide quality education to children in partnership with Government Programmes - Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan.
We have started providing basic computer education to the youths residing in the vicinity of our fertilizer plants. Three digital learning centers are now operating in the nearby villages.
