ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY

Project ‘Bhoomi’- Environmental Sustainability, Animal Welfare and Soil Health Initiatives

Chambal’s strive to achieve sustainability is characterised by our approach which is to make people more resilient and educated to the increasing ecological imbalances. Environment conservation is an imperative and sustainability is the way forward for existence. Several initiatives across regions including Punjab, Haryana & Rajasthan are:

  • Crop Residue Management Project in villages of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana with a vision to prevent crop residue burning and adopt alternate methods for crop residue management. After successful completion of Phase 1 (Punjab and Haryana) and Phase 2 (Kota and Baran, Rajasthan), we have completed Phase 3 in 211 selected villages of Punjab and Haryana in Financial Year 2022-23. We have reached out to more than 110000 farmers (directly and indirectly) and successfully prevented crop residue burning in more than 75000 acre land.

This has saved around 63.0 Million Kg Green House Gas (GHGs) emission in Punjab and 53.6 Million Kg in Haryana (considering that 1 ton of residue is being generated from 1 acre field).

  • To build an efficient Solid Waste Management system CFCL has made intensive efforts to create awareness on proper waste management system.
  • Efforts for the protection and flora and fauna through development of an ecological park at Sorsan, Rajasthan.
  • Soil health and sustainable agriculture initiative is providing support to the farmers to adopt sustainable agriculture practices and to get soil health report of their farmlands.
  • For the conservation of water, activities have been undertaken for cleaning and restoration of ponds in nearby villages of its plant premises.
  • Successfully installed solar panels in 5 adopted Anganwadi Centers with the aim to reduce the carbon footprint.
